Meet Your Anxiety & Burnout Therapist

Serving Anxious, Burned Out Adults Across Los Angeles and California

I’m Emily Dillon, LCSW, and I help anxious, burnt out millennials move beyond survival mode, heal chronic stress and pain, and create lives that feel more balanced, meaningful, and sustainable.

Many of my clients are successful on the outside but exhausted on the inside. They struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, over-functioning, people-pleasing, burnout, and the constant pressure to keep doing more. Somewhere along the way, achievement became tied to self-worth, productivity became the measure of success, and slowing down started to feel uncomfortable—or even impossible.

My Story

As someone who has navigated my own experiences with anxiety, chronic stress, chronic pain, and invisible illness, I understand what it feels like to constantly push through, ignore your own needs, and live disconnected from what your mind and body are trying to tell you.

My own journey taught me that healing isn’t just about understanding why we struggle. It’s also about learning how to reconnect with ourselves, listen to our bodies, and build a different relationship with stress, achievement, and self-worth.

That experience is a large part of what led me to this work. I became passionate about helping others move beyond simply getting through the day and toward lives that feel more grounded, connected, and aligned with who they truly are.

What It's Like To Work With Me

You can expect our sessions to be conversational, collaborative, direct, and down-to-earth. I’m not afraid of dark humor, to get existential at times, or to challenge you when needed. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine human relationship built on trust, authenticity, and mutual respect.

Together, we’ll explore the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that keep you stuck while developing practical tools to help you create meaningful change. My goal isn’t simply to help you feel better—it’s to help you understand yourself more deeply, trust yourself more fully, and build a life that feels aligned with who you are, not just what you accomplish.

Professional Background

Before entering private practice, I spent many years working as a school social worker, supporting children, teens, adults, parents, and families as they navigated challenges related to mental health, trauma, relationships, life transitions, and emotional well-being.

That experience gave me a deep appreciation for the ways our early environments, relationships, and life experiences continue to shape us long into adulthood. Today, I bring that perspective into my private practice, helping adults heal from anxiety, trauma, chronic stress, burnout, chronic pain, and mind-body symptoms.

I received my Master of Social Welfare (MSW) from UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and continue to pursue advanced training in trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, and neuroscience-informed approaches to healing.

Beyond the Therapy Room

When I’m not working with clients, you can usually find me thrifting for treasures, exploring a new trail or campsite with my family, or raising butterflies in my backyard during the summer months.

I’m someone who deeply values authenticity, connection, curiosity, and finding joy in the small things. I know firsthand how easy it is to get caught up in productivity, achievement, and taking care of everyone else while losing touch with your own needs.

Because of my own experiences with anxiety, chronic stress, chronic pain, and invisible illness, I understand how exhausting it can be to constantly push through. Those experiences shaped not only who I am as a person, but also how I show up as a therapist—with empathy, honesty, humor, and a deep respect for how hard healing can be.
